Week Two

The second week of our excavation included the discovery of a complete cooking oven which included an instalation layer of pottery sherds over it. It is truly amazing! In area J we found some pieces of bronze and iron, as well as some weaving spindels. One of my squares also yielded some distinctive 8th century (BCE) pottery, which means we are in / near the time period of our interest (Iron Age). Many of us stayed at the kibbutz this weekend to relax after a long week and were properly introduced to the kibbutz pub scene - not too exciting. This coming week brings more volunteers and more man power. Hopefully, the next update will be more exciting!
